This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In rainforests.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is slightly frail.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release millions of spores.

The leaves are overwhelmingly toxic, and very sweet.
It can survive a long time without water.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
