Waterstem Pine

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 19 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of stocky, straight stems covered in thin, waxy, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are very short and thick that and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, broad, flat, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are cyan and gold, resilient and smooth.

It produces a handful of small, vibrant red flowers with umbrella-shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like old shoes. In late summer it forms largesilver seed pods.

It comes in 5 varieties.
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
