Copperbark

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This massive shrub grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for around 46 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many narrow, wavy stems covered in very thick, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches are short and thin that and are covered with handfuls of miniature, wispy, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either peach, or muted orange with red patches, durable and fuzzy.

In late spring it produces lots of large, beige flowers with fan-like petals. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like lavender.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
