Vomitfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 57 feet (17.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 75 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, slanted trunk covered in rough, dark brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The tangled mess of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, slender, pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are generally red.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, amber blossoms with 3 pointed petals. They detach easily and have a soft scent that smells like vomit.

In late summer it produces small, spherical fruit. The leathery lime skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft muted orange flesh is sweet and sour and juicy. The silver seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
