Copper Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 79 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, angular trunk covered in rough, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very dense wood is brown.

The abundance of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, spear shaped leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid sky blue or copper, with azure streaks.

In early spring, it produces bunches of giant, ashy yellow blossoms with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like grass cuttings.

In late summer it produces , spherical fruit. The clammy indigo skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy blood red flesh is sour and sticky. The light brown seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
