Caramel

Flower type: Biennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its moss green stem is thick and splits into several branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the huge, green leaves are long, narrow with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Several giant flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with petals that are caramel on the underside and blood red on the top. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of dozens of tightly layered, narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like fresh linen, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.
