Copper Moss

This copper moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In rainy mountain ranges, On rotten logs, and On trees.
It is large, growing up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is overwhelmingly frail; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release thousands of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
