Copperleaf

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The perforated stem is orange, and is covered in large amounts of rigid bronze spines. The thick leaves are white and copper. Copious amounts of them grow on flat, green branches that are short stubs. The leaves are flimsy, and easily come away when pulled.

It is fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with grey petals and a violet central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. It has a faint scent that smells like baby powder.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the white flesh is rough, and the aquamarine sap is thin.

It is often home to a particular bird species.
The stems are covered in large spikes.
The sap is edible and slightly sour.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
