Twistpine
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 303 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a long and flexible, twisting trunk covered in thick, smooth, brown-green bark, and inside, the hard wood is pine-coloured.
The numerous branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of rough, giant, needle-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are yellow and indigo.
In late summer it forms small, hazel, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
