Copperbell

Flower type: Perennial (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its olive or lilac stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 6 and are thin and straight, and split into numerous branching stems at the base, and the large, green leaves are shield-shaped with toothed edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Lots of large flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with solid copper petals and a faded red central disk. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of raised narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like leather, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.

All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
