Amberfruit

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 57 feet (17.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 56 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in ridged, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale yellow.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of large, finger-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are bronze on the edges and amber at the center.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, brown blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like an ocean breeze.

In late summer it produces tiny, long, narrow fruit. The sticky crimson skin is thick and inedible, and the soft brown flesh is savoury and sticky. The intense yellow seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
