Spiky Olive Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 37 feet (11.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 22 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in thin, knobbly, dark gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is dark brown.

The sparse amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of small, broad, flat leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are caramel and red.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, olive blossoms with oblong petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like wet dog.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, asymmetrical fruit. The soft grey skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is spicy and savoury, and the soft peach flesh is very savoury and powdery. The green seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
