Blueberry Triffid

This small caudiciform grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The tapering stem is brown, and is covered in lots of rigid blue spines. It has a straight, stumpy, orange trunk atop a thick tripod of waxy, exposed roots. The branches are thick and pink-red and trail down towards the ground.

The ripped-edged, pleated leaves are sky blue on the edges and crimson at the center. They are light, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is steady-growing, taking 21 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with alternating petals of subtle red and faded green, with a white central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. It has a delicate scent that smells like fruity.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the turquoise flesh is sticky, and the beige sap is thin.
