Copperfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 32 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, rough, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of huge, perforated leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are found in pastel blue and copper varieties.

In early spring, it produces many giant, light brown blossoms with 7 shield-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like old books.

In early autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The fuzzy light brown skin is peel-able and sweet, and the crunchy caramel flesh is slightly savoury and oily. The orange seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
