Turquoise Fruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, curved trunk covered in thick, knobbly, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is black with white speckles.

The branches are short and thick and are covered with handfuls of small, needle-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either slate or turquoise, with yellow dots.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, subtle blue blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a soft scent that smells like something putrid.

In late summer it produces tiny, stiff, pointed fruit. The hairy brown skin is thin and sweet and savoury, and the soft blood red flesh is savoury and very juicy. The faded orange seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
