Yellowwood

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 572 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in wrinkled, brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale yellow.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of covered in fine hairs, tiny, circular leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are yellow and light grey.

In late summer it forms small, light brown, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
