Mahogany-Lilac Shrub

This large shrub grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 115 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several thick, twisting stems covered in rough, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, broad, flat, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are pink on the edges and lilac at the center, light and fuzzy.

In early spring it produces copious amounts of large, caramel flowers with heart-shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like grass cuttings.
