Blueberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 60 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, twisting trunk covered in very thick, silky, light brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is gray.

The numerous branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of small, finger-like leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either light brown or hazel, with slate dots.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of small, dull blue blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a faint scent that smells like mint.

In early autumn it produces tiny, long, narrow fruit. The fuzzy muted yellow skin is stretchy and spicy and sour, and the crunchy lilac flesh is sweet and sour and juicy. The white seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
