Spicy Lime
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This massive fruit tree grows up to 52 feet (15.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in hard, ridged, dark green bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown.
The abundance of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, long, narrow leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and gold.
In early spring, it produces hundreds of large, gentle orange blossoms with 6 pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like skunk spray.
In late summer it produces , asymmetrical fruit. The sticky brilliant yellow skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy lime flesh is spicy and sour and juicy. The crimson seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It comes in 86 varieties.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
