Copperleaf

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 110 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several narrow, curved stems covered in very thick, rough, black with white speckled bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, oblong, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are copper at the bottom and red with blood red lines at the top, rigid and smooth.

In late spring it produces hundreds of tiny, aquamarine flowers with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like onion.
