Indigo Flower

Flower type: Biennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its light brown stem is thin and straight with a curved tip, and the small, moss green leaves are very thick with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of indigo. The flower head is made up of 16 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. They are sturdy.

It has a powerful scent that smells like perfume, and it has copious amounts of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
