Crimson Spine Cactus
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This small cactus grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The very thin stem is pink-red, and is dotted with small hazel spines. The round body is pink-red, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid beige spines.
It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with solid olive petals decorated with bright purple lines and a amber central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 52 widely spaced narrow petals. It has the faintest scent that smells like candle wax.
The cactus's skin is tough, the pale blue flesh is rubbery, and the crimson sap is thin.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
