Silverfern

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 19 meters (62.3 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 131 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, angular trunk covered in smooth, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow-brown.

The small bunches of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of fuzzy, huge, long, tapering leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are silver and silver.

In late summer it forms tiny, intense orange, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It can survive a very long time without water.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
