This big bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 365 feet (111.3 meters) and growing as high as 85 feet (25.9 meters). It prefers to grow on man-made objects.

It takes 3 years for the orange stems to mature, by which point they can reach a diameter of 1.6 feet (48 cm) and are smooth and rubbery.

The spiral, covered in fine hairs leaves reach up to 1.9 feet (58 cm) in length. They are yellow at the bottom and purple with lime streaks at the top, and have jagged edges.

It grows well in the sun and full shade.
