Indigo
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 122 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has many stocky, straight stems covered in very thick, waxy, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is light brown.
The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, thick, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid indigo with hazel zig-zags, resistant and fuzzy.
It produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, lilac flowers with sickle shaped petals. They detach easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like candle wax. In midwinter it forms medium-sizeddeep orange, winged seeds that float and land far away.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
