Emerald

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 3 and are thin and straight, and split into dozens of branching stems at the top, and the miniature, emerald leaves are long, narrow with tattered edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with petals that are either green or dull blue, with a yellow center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 36 curved petals. They are sturdy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like varnish, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.

It can grow in even the most barren lands.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
