Violet
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small caudiciform grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is lime green, and is covered in many rigid pastel orange spines. The wide, dark brown trunk can grow to as much as 9 feet (2.7 meters) in diameter. Its green or copper branches are tall, rigid and upright.
The tattered-edged, long, narrow leaves are dull blue and violet. They are hardy, and are very difficult to pull away.
It is slow growing, taking 16 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with alternating petals of brown and black, with a sky blue central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 40 petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like blood.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the purple flesh is smooth, and the magenta sap is thin.
The sap is edible and extremely sour.
