Bluefire Lavender

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) tall. Its gray-green stem is thin and splits into 8 branching stems halfway up, and the huge, gray-green leaves are very thin with jagged edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Each stem splits 3 to 7 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with solid sky blue petals decorated with light grey lines and a blood red central disk. The flower head is largely flat with several widely spaced round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like lavender, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by some specific types of insect.
