Bloodvine

Tree type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 407 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a wide, curved trunk covered in rough, dark green bark, and inside, the very light wood is brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of crispy, tiny, very thin leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are blood red at the bottom and beige with violet lines at the top.

In late summer it forms large, faded green seed pods.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

The stems are covered in large spikes.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
