Magentaberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 56 feet (17.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow-brown.

The small handful of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of small, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of gray-green that gradient shifts to copper at the top.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, magenta blossoms with 7 pointed petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like something putrid.

In late autumn it produces very large, long, curved fruit. The waxy pink skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy red flesh is very savoury and powdery. The silver seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
