Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 71 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has several narrow, slanted stems covered in cracked, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is white with black speckles.

The branches are very short and thin that and are covered with large amounts of giant, perforated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid washed-out purple or hazel, with magenta lines, strong and rough.

It produces a handful of giant, indigo flowers with flame-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like lemon. In early summer it forms smallgreen, shelled seeds.

It can flourish even in standing water.
