This vivid purple moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas In moorlands.
It is giant, growing up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is very resistant.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores.

It has impressive regenerative properties.
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
