Blood Red

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This big fruit tree grows up to 32 feet (9.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in smooth, light gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy-brown.

The branches are short and thick and are covered with handfuls of miniature, sickle shaped leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are brown on the edges and blood red at the center.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of large, cream blossoms with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, needle-like fruit. The rubbery white skin is thick and inedible, and the soft magenta flesh is spicy and oily. The light brown seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
