Pinkbell Fernfir

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 115 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of stocky, twisting stems covered in hard, silky, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches are short, thin and wispy with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of miniature, slender, pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid pink or black, with gentle green lines, durable and crispy.

It produces copious amounts of large, caramel flowers with long, narrow petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like warm milk. In early autumn it forms smallblack, shelled seeds.
