Purple Zigzag

This modest-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 25 feet (7.6 meters) and growing as high as 382 feet (116.4 meters). It prefers to grow on specific trees.

It takes 2 years for the aquamarine stems to mature, by which point they can reach a diameter of 5 inches (13 cm) and are rough and fibrous.

The wispy, leathery leaves reach up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) in length. They are black at the bottom and intense purple with purple zig-zags at the top, and have tattered edges.

During late spring, the bine produces handfuls of tiny pink flowers.
