Copperbrush

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 44 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several slender, slanted stems covered in delicate, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of large, stiff, pointed, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are generally hazel, light and covered in fine hairs.

It produces a handful of large, gold flowers with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like soap. In mid-autumn it forms tinyolive, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
