Lilac

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its lime green stem is very thin, and the giant, silver and emerald leaves are long, tapering with irregular edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 2 to 7 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 15 cm (5.9 inches) wide, with lilac petals that gradient shift to magenta on the outer edge. The central disk is lime. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 curved petals. They detach easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like rotten meat, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
