Mahogany Rose
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 70 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of knobbly, straight stems covered in thin, ridged, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.
The branches are very long and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of large, broad, flat, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of silver or bronze that gradient shifts to pink at the top, sturdy and smooth.
In late summer it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, red flowers with 4 spiral shaped petals. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like roses.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
The entire plant is edible and the grains arevery salty.
