Burgundy Petal Vine

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is very thin, and the miniature, gray leaves are grey on the underside and are stiff, pointed with rounded edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Dozens of small flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are either blue or slate, with a yellow center. The flower head is largely flat with 57 widely spaced narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a strong scent that smells like vomit, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.
