Burgundyvine

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This large flower grows up to 2.7 feet (81 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is wispy, and the giant, silver leaves are cylindrical with tattered edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Each stem splits 2 to 8 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 44 cm (17.3 inches) wide, with petals that are green in the center, yellow in the middle and beige at the edges. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of many tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like something putrid, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.

It grows well in the sun and full shade.
