Vinebirch

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 229 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is black with white speckles.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of leathery, large, 9 pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are crimson and turquoise.

In late summer it forms small, bronze, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

Ivy often grows along the trunk.
It has impressive regenerative properties.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
