Purple Spine Succulent

This small caudiciform grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. The wispy stem is gray, and is covered in large amounts of rigid purple spines. It has a straight, bulbous, green trunk atop a round tripod of rough, exposed roots. The branches are round and burgundy and are long and thin.

The jagged-edged, wispy leaves are solid lime with violet lines. They are hardy, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 23 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with yellow petals and an olive central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 10 curved petals. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like citrus.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the washed-out orange flesh is smooth, and the caramel sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.
