Yellowfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 18 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in fine, smooth, silver bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, wide leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are yellow-green with brilliant yellow tips.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of large, beige blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like pepper.

In mid-summer it produces , oval fruit. The fuzzy light brown skin is stretchy and edible when cooked; it is spicy and savoury, and the crunchy cream flesh is salty and oily. The brown seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
