Amber Starvine

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its gray-green stem is thin and splits into 5 branching stems halfway up, and the tiny, light grey leaves are wispy with wavy edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single giant flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with petals that are amber on the underside and white on the top. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of 16 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a powerful scent that smells like cotton, and it has very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
