Yellowfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This massive fruit tree grows up to 67 feet (20.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black.

The extensive patches of branches are short and thick and are covered with large amounts of giant, circular leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid vivid yellow with olive zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of tiny, pink blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In early winter it produces small, circular fruit. The fuzzy silver skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft grey flesh is sour and dry. The light brown seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
