Clinging Ashfruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, wonky trunk covered in hard, silky, dark gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, thick leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either washed-out orange, or blue with gold streaks.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, pastel red blossoms with fan-like petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like ashes.

In late summer it produces , perforated fruit. The sticky cream skin is stretchy and sweet, and the soft blue flesh is sweet and very dry. The light brown seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It has impressive regenerative properties.
