Silverleaf Blueberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 60 feet (18.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, slanted trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, silver bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale brown.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid white or black, with pink dots.

In early spring, it produces many balls of large, black blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like a newborn baby.

In mid-summer it produces large, asymmetrical fruit. The soft drab blue skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft blue flesh is spicy and very dry. The orange seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
