Orange Spine Succulent

This big leaf succulent grows up to 84 feet (25.6 meters) tall. The thin stem is brown and yellow, and is covered in brittle orange spines. The stocky leaves are generally orange. Sparse amounts of them grow on very thick, orange-yellow branches that are short stubs. The leaves are flimsy, and take little effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are red on the underside and orange on the top, grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like damp.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the cream flesh is leathery, and the light grey sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
