Copperleaf Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 475 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, slanted trunk covered in thick, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is brown.

The small bunches of branches are short and thick and are covered with handfuls of smooth, large, needle-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid lime with blue dots.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, copper blossoms with 9 spiral shaped petals. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like rotting meat.

In late summer it forms small, yellow, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
