Copperwood

This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 200 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wonky trunk covered in thick, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is white with black speckles.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of waxy, giant, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are lime on the sides and subtle red at the center.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, pink blossoms with umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.

In late summer it forms small, olive, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
